Project overview
Missy Magazine is an independent and inclusive magazine that covers pop culture, politics, and feminism. They publish a print edition every two months and also have content on their website.
Despite celebrating its 15th birthday, Missy Magazine is facing financial difficulties due to its limited budget.
Proposal
Building a native app for Missy Magazine was a strategic decision aimed at attracting a younger as well as an older audience. The goal was to generate new paying customers through faster content delivery and a more engaging experience compared to the print edition.
Making the content available for a broad english speaking readership was another tactical move. Especially for quite a huge english speaking community in Berlin.
Accessibility
Feminism is a topic that concerns all age groups.
It was not only crucial to think about necessary features for the app, but also to keep in mind to cater for an multigenerational audience. Those dealing with visual impairment can adjust the text size of the articles.

And those who might enjoy a calmer interface can adjust the screen design via the contrast icon on the homepage.
Tone it down or let it pop!
Retrospective
If I had to do it all over again, I would make personalisation the focal point of my design decisions.
Supporting this realisation is the fact that designing for an multigenerational audience means that every age group has different problems that they need to get solved.

Consequently that means that I have to do justice to the diversity of demands.
Going forward these are iterations I would prioritise:
   - Create a landscape layout to improve readability
   - Enable customisation of the home screen
   - Support VUI to improve better accessibility
